Introduction

Chemical engineering is a multi-disciplinary and versatile branch of engineering that combines natural and experimental sciences. This four-year full-time program is divided into twelve trimesters with a Choice Based Credit System. The School of Chemical Engineering at MIT WPU offers a perfect blend of latest industry trends like IOT in Process Industry, Green Chemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Process Automation and Control, Process Modelling Simulation and Optimization, Data Analytics for Predictive Process Solutions with fundamental knowledge base in Chemical Engineering. Introduction

With a legacy of four decades, the MIT-WPU School of Chemical Engineering is one of the foremost centers of Chemical Engineering in India. Founded to meet the rising demand of skillful Chemical Engineers in the country and abroad, it has been producing a competent and talented workforce for all the walks of Chemical Industries over forty years. Well-equipped laboratories along with a highly qualified and expert academic staff ensure that the MIT WPU School of Engineering excels at research, that the burgeoning Chemical Industry sorely needs. There are presently more than seven titles being currently researched at the school with grants from various National funding agencies. Our contemporary as well as future technology-oriented syllabus empowered by numerous industry and alumni interactions ensure that we remain abreast with the latest developments in the field of Chemical Engineering ensuring the quality of our graduates. With an emphasis of the holistic development of our students exercised through excellent infrastructure and learned faculty members, we continue to produce the finest Chemical Engineers and engage in innovative research upskilling the learners for the future. The Masters Program in Chemical Engineering aims to upskill and reskill the graduate students from Chemical, Petrochemical, Petroleum, Polymer, Oil and Paints and allied branches into technology practitioners. With Electric vehicles disrupting IC Engines on fossil fuels and emergence of Fuel Cell Vehicles, Energy is the vital field of research for us. We have expert faculty members who have successfully executed research in 2G Ethanol, Bio Methane, Green hydrogen production. With Decarbonization garnering interest and more efforts from Governments and private organizations towards Green Energy, we commit to empower our Masters learners to delve into innovation and encourage to become entrepreneurs earning business acumen.

Introduction

Following courses shall be part of the Ph.D. program: Research Methodology, Research Proposal, Review Seminar, Mathematics for Engineering Research and Advances in Chemical Engineering. After admission, each Ph.D. student shall be required to undertake Course Work for a minimum period of one semester. The Course Work shall be offered with the credit system and will be treated as pre- Ph.D. preparation. The total credit requirement for entire course work shall be 20 credits. Students are required to earn these 20 credits in maximum two semesters. Mathematics for Engineering Research will be based on the Advance topics from Engineering Mathematics. It will consist of minimum 15 units of 2 credits each. Contents for the Branch Specific Topics will be based on the advanced topics/technology pertaining to the branch. It will consist of a minimum of 10 units with 2 credits each. The students shall be required to earn the credit for 2 units from Mathematics for Engineering Research and 3 units from Branch Specific Topics, related to their area of research, selected in consultation with the Guide and approved by the Head of Research Centre.
