Bioengineering is a multidisciplinary program which integrates principles of biological, physical, chemical, mathematics and life sciences along with different aspects of chemical, mechanical, electrical and computer engineering. It inherits knowledge from molecular to organ system levels, develops biomaterials and devices, involving information and technology management, as well as methods for assessment and evaluation of technology, for biological applications. Bioengineers play an important role in design of medical devices such as artificial internal organs, imaging machines, cardiac pacemakers, and implants etc. which helps people to combat disease and disability. Bioengineers develop biologically compatible materials and bioprosthetic devices, controllers of heart function, artificial retinas, and advanced hearing systems.

Program Highlights

Membrane Bioreactor, Batch Fermenters, Bio-digestor, TOC, UVS, FTIR, HPLC, GC, BOD and COD meters and other Biological analysis facilities are available for synthesis and analysis of newer materials as well as waste analysis.
Hydrodynamic Cavitation, Industrial scale Membrane Separation unit, Integrated Multiphase horizontal and vertical flow regime loop, Airlift Hydrodynamic columns,
High pressure Autoclave reactor, and many more experimental set-ups help cater the advanced knowledge and research in the field of Chemical and Bio Engineering.
School of Chemical Engineering is equipped with latest software as Aspen Plus, HYSYS along with mathematical solvers as COMSOL, MATLAB and others. Open ware as DWSIM, ChemSep are widely used to design processes and plants.
